At Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation (PCUUC), we offer a safe and supportive environment for your child to explore life and all of its facets. The children are supported by, and are an integral part of, a spiritual community that helps them to define their own moral compass. Children’s Religious Education at PCUUC offers structure not only for the learning environment, but for navigating life’s waters.
We believe in introducing ideas to youth, not indoctrinating them. We introduce them to ideas before we introduce them to ideologies, and allow them to find what resonates with them as individuals. We offer a space for children to build a spiritual foundation for themselves. One which will guide them through life.
This year (fall 2010 — spring 2011) we’ve adapted the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Tapestry of Faith curriculum to meet the needs and aspirations of responsible parents who want their children to experience faith development in a liberal religious environment.
Organized by age groups and utilizing age-appropriate materials, this program emphasizes:
- Building healthy relationships with one another
- The importance of community
- The interdependence of all life
- Consistency in anti-racist, anti-oppressive living including multicultural values.
Each program level includes stories, activities, worship, and social action ideas to nurture your children in ethics, spirit, and faith.
Children’s and youths’ classes run from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, concurrent with the adult Sunday service. There is no enrollment fee, and infant care is provided. Adult membership in the congregation is not required.
