This year’s theme is again based on the age-old tale of Stone Soup, a tale of cooperation and coming together of community, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.  A great event is planned with lots of wonderful items available and FUN!  So please plan to join us! This event is our largest community-building event of the year, where we all come together in fellowship to share, care and be together.  Plus, there’s the added benefit that proceeds from this event account for 10% of PCUUC’s annual budget AND 10% of the proceeds are donated to PADS and Avon Township Food Pantry.  Just like in the age-old story of the Stone Soup, if we all come together with something to add to the ‘Soup,’ we’ll have a great result! A successful event helps further our Congregation’s mission of providing meaningful Sunday services, taking care of each other and serving justice projects in the larger community – among other important endeavors! See you on November 12!

Your presence and contributions were appreciated

Our First PCUUC Affirmation class and the Religious Education committee would like to extend a BIG thank you to all members and friends of the congregation who planned and attended the chili cook-off fundraiser!!! Our Affirmation class organized this function, along with future smaller fundraisers in the next couple of months to be able to go to the city of Boston, Massachusetts to learn about our faith as an important step in their journey before they present their projects, statements of beliefs and overall learning experience on Affirmation Sunday on June 19th, 2011.

Our affirmants: Gavin Achtemeier, Lauren Rudloff, Yasmeen Johnson, Emily Samson, Alex Kratcoski and Quinn Mckenzie, along with the dedication of their families, mentors, and other members of our congregation contributing food and those who contributed items for the silent auction, providing their time and energy making this event possible. In addition, a special thanks goes out to the members of our congregation who spearheaded this event: Leslie Kratcoski, Dena Hensey-Rudloff, Norine Fendrych, and the hospitality committee for jumping right in.

Our cumulative funds raised thus far for our affirmants to go to Boston on June 9th-12th is currently at $2909, thanks to your genorosity. This will cover airfare and partial lodging expenses. It is apparent with the combined efforts of several thoughtful people, amazing outcomes endure. Thus rung true of Prairie Circle Unitarian Congregation caring on behalf of our expanding our youth’s horizons on March 6, 2011.

Passive Fundraising Coordinator Wanted

The Fundraising Committee is in need of more helping hands.  There are several passive fundraising opportunities that could benefit PCCUC, however, our committee members are all working at or above capacity.  We would love to get a new committee member who could focus on expanding the passive fundraising portion of our fundraising strategy.  This person would be tasked with researching, planning, and implementing as many passive fundraisers as possible.

We estimate this volunteer opportunity to be between 2 -5 hours a month.

Passive Fundraisers are fundraising opportunities that allow PCUUC to get fundraising dollars without our members having to actually pay us.  An example of a passive fundraiser is GoodSearch.  You can learn more about this and see how this works on our Other Fundraising Initiatives page.

Please contact Dayle or Jan at Fundraising@PrairieCircleUUC.org. Thank you!
