Tonia's message is so insightful and was so thoughtfully stated. Some of her comments were echoed by Rabbi Bronstein, our speaker this morning, when he spoke about those without food on their tables or medical care when they are ill. His central message was to "keep hope alive" despite all the things in our nation that seem to be dismal or heading in a treacherous direction. He quoted a few Bible passages and the one that seems most appropopriately apllied to Tonia's message is to "love thy neighbor as thyself". If we were all able to practice that within our church community, would we not have a crazy, sexy faith?

I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I agree that we seem to get caught up in process and miss the point of our shared endeavor as a community. Not seeing the forest for the trees, as it were. I think finding a BHAG (big huge audacious goal - if I remember the acronym correctly) as we set out to do a couple of years ago is important to bring focus to our existence as a community rather than being so inwardly focused on process.

I also agree that as with any extended human interaction, there will be times we step on each others toes, and cause hurt feelings. As loving, accepting individuals and as a community, we need to be gentle with each other, and cut each other slack when we don't live up to our best selves.

Tonia - thanks for starting a conversation.

Hi Kevin,

I think the best approach would be to contact Peaceful Uprising. This is the non-profit organization Tim started to organize environment/energy policy protests & civic action. I am sure that they would be able to tell you exactly how money is being gathered, how to donate, etc.

The contact page on their website is http://www.peacefuluprising.org/contact

I'd like to help cover some of Mr. DeChristoper's legal and or prison expenses. How do I do this? Thank you.
