General
Information: Covenant Groups
Covenant Groups are small,
facilitated groups of people (ideally 10 maximum), whose goal is to
provide a sense of intimacy and community. The groups offer a place for
spiritual exploration and growth, in an environment where people are
encouraged and supported in the sharing of stories, experiences, ideas,
and feelings.
Covenant Groups are also
encouraged to commit themselves to reaching out to the church and
community through volunteerism. Covenant Groups can be general in focus,
choosing a varied discussion topic for each meeting, or specific in
direction, such as a group focused on Buddhism or creative writing. The
possibilities are limited only by our creativity and interests.

Sustainability Covenant
Group
We are a group of motivated persons concerned about the twin crises
of resource depletion (especially "peak oil") and climate
change, and what these crises could mean for our and our children's
futures. We come together monthly in a supportive environment to:
-
Gain a better
understanding of how our world is changing irreversibly;
-
Discuss constructive ways
to contribute - both as individuals and as a community - toward
preserving the systems essential to all life on earth, and toward the
development of a culture of sustainability and equity for all; and
-
Consider how we and our
loved ones can enjoy a good and abundant way of life - even in an
uncertain future dominated by increasing resource scarcity and the
looming effects of global warming/climate change.
We welcome all PCUUC members and friends to
attend our meetings and to participate in our special projects and
events.
Prairie Women's Covenant Group
Discussions are varied and include such topics as the feminine
divine, family relationships, and personal growth. New members are
welcome to join at any time.
Meets twice each month on Mondays at a member's home, 7-9 PM.
PCUUC Rhythm Circle
The PCUUC Rhythm Circle meets periodically on Friday evenings. To be
notified of the next meeting, please contact the Director of Religious
Education at re@prairiecircleuuc.org,
and she will add your name to the contact list. All interested
adults and high school youth are invited to attend. No previous experience
is necessary, and any type of rhythm instrument is welcome. Please bring
your own beverage (no alcohol) and a light snack to share.
In the event of rain, the Rhythm Circle
will meet at Pauline Valvo Alford's home in Prairie Crossing. Sign up on
the Lifespan Religious Education bulletin board, or RSVP to the Director
of Religious Education.
