Worship Schedule

7/27/08 Encountering the Other

Reverend Clare Butterfield will share stories of humans, nature, immigrants, strangers, and home.

Reverend Butterfield is Director of Faith in Place.

8/3/08 Taking the Long Way Round

Elka Cartmell Ladd is a second-year student at Meadville Lombard Theological School. Originally from Boston, she was very active in YRUU leadership. She currently serves as the Facilitator for the Church of the Younger Fellowship, an online faith community for young adults.

8/10/08 UUs in Song

Unitarian Universalism is a joyful faith that celebrates our exploration of different ideas, as well as who we are and are becoming as spiritual individuals. Heck, we even enjoy the freedom to change the words of our favorite tunes!

Join the PCUUC Greater Choir in a light-hearted service as we sing and laugh about our faith, our lives, and generally have a good time.

8/17/08 Blessed are the Peacemakers

What does it mean to be a peacemaker? The standard theories around peace have split between the Augustinian Just War perspective and a wholesale rejection of all violence by proponents of Passivism. Unitarian Universalists have history on both sides of the issue. Are there other ways to be in the world which are not so black and white? As we engage with the UUA CSAI on Peacemaking, we examine new viewpoints from theological as well as practical perspectives. Just Peacemaking and Just Policing, may offer less of a one size fits all approach, but make room for the ambiguity and challenges of real life while still holding a vision of hope and a framework from which to work for sustainable peace in our world.

Pam Rumancik is a seminary student at Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago. The mother of three children, she brings grounding in the contemplative practices of Sufism to her interactions and her work. She has been a member of the CSAI (Congregational Study Action Issue) core group on Peacemaking Activism for the last year, envisioning concrete ways to bring peacemaking practices to our congregations and helping explore the inherent difficulties in articulating one statement on peace that fits the diverse nature of our association.
