There is a teaching found in both Islamic and Jewish traditions that instructs us to plant a tree
even if the world is ending. The Confessing Church, a resistance movement in Nazi Germany,
found deep inspiration in a similar saying. What does this powerful metaphor, expressed in 870
AD and repeated in different times, places, and faiths have to offer us today? What is the power,
