About the event
The late actress Eartha Kitt reminds us, “I fall in love with myself and I want someone to share it with me. I want someone to share me with me.” At first glance, we might assume this is self-indulgence, however, this is just the same self-love that Audre Lorde asserts is an act of political warfare. Love as an act of resistance challenges our society and its politics when we commit to the authentic possibility of being and becoming in order to demonstrate the love the world is missing.
Rev. Dr. Jé Exodus Hooper (they/them) is a multifaceted individual with over eight years of dedication to the Ethical Culture and Congregational Humanist Movements. They serve as an arts and cultural community educator, curator, clergy, and scholar, blending activism, aesthetics, ethics, and community-based performance. Dr. Hooper, a self-identified neo-mannerist within the Humanist spectrum, challenges conventional boundaries, emphasizing love as a way of being and exploring the margins to transcend typical Humanist paradigms. Their influence spans across platforms, including articles and productions, delving into topics like queer identities, race, art, and organizational practices, both in academic and digital spaces. Dr. Hooper's commitment to authenticity and reimagining narratives seeks to honor the worth and dignity of every individual, fostering unity and empathy.
